AustralianSuper is one of the country's largest super funds, and like most funds it includes default TPD insurance for many members, with premiums deducted from your balance. If illness or injury has stopped you working, you may have a claim.
Do you have cover?
Check your AustralianSuper statement or member account for TPD or "Total & Permanent Disablement" cover and the insured amount. Remember you may also hold cover in other super funds from past jobs.
How to lodge a claim
You can generally start a claim through your AustralianSuper online member account or app, or by phone. The fund's insurer assesses your claim, typically against the "any occupation" definition used by super-held cover. You'll provide details of your condition, treating doctors and work history.
What to prepare
Strong medical evidence is essential, along with proof of identity and your employment history. A waiting period usually applies before lodging.
