If a workplace injury has left you unable to return to work, you may be able to claim TPD — and importantly, this can often be in addition to workers compensation.
TPD and workers comp are different
Workers compensation is a separate scheme for work-related injuries. TPD is insurance held through your super. Receiving one does not automatically rule out the other.
When a workplace injury supports a TPD claim
- The injury prevents you returning to your usual work.
- It's expected to be long-term or permanent.
- You had active TPD cover when you stopped working.
Worth checking both
Many injured workers pursue workers compensation but never realise they may also have a TPD claim sitting in their super.
